  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)
  • 2 ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 stick leek (finely chopped)
  • 7 oz white cabbage (shredded)
  • 1 large carrot (shredded)
  • 1 red bell pepper (finely chopped)
  • 7 oz smoked tofu (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Sesame oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour gradually and knead until smooth. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
  3. Sauté leek, garlic, carrot, red bell pepper, and cabbage in oil until softened. Stir in smoked tofu and seasoning; cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Punch down the dough and divide into equal pieces. Roll each into circles and fill with the vegetable mixture; pinch to seal.
  5. In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add sesame oil. Fry buns until golden brown; add water and cover to steam for about 10 minutes.
