  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 1/2 tsp or 2 packages regular or fast-acting dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine (1/2 stick) (room temperature)
  • 1 large egg
  • Cooking spray (to grease bowl and pan)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine (1/2 stick) (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 12 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Warm milk until lukewarm and combine it with dry yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add sugar, melted butter, salt, and egg; mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour to form a soft dough; knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for 1 hour.
  5. For the filling, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter on top, then sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. Roll tightly into a log shape; cut into 1-inch pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
  8. Let rolls rise again for 30 minutes before baking at 350°F (175°C) for 25–35 minutes until golden brown.
  9. For frosting, whisk together powdered sugar, softened butter, vanilla extract, and milk to desired consistency; drizzle over warm rolls.
