  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 large egg yolk (room temperature)
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a heavy-bottomed saucepan until caramelized and cool it to room temperature.
  2. Mix together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and sea salt; set aside.
  3. Cream cooled butter with brown and granulated sugars until smooth.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until combined.
  5. Gradually stir in dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
  6. Chill the dough for at least one hour (up to 72 hours for enhanced flavor).
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Scoop dough into balls and place them on prepared sheets.
  9. Bake for 8–10 minutes or until golden around the edges.
  10. Cool on baking sheets briefly before transferring to a wire rack.
